The muscular stress induced by
fitness training cranks up your blood pressure, heart
rate, oxygen consumption and levels of stress neurochemicals
such as adrenaline and cortisol, in addition to disrupting
brainwave activity and scrambling your mental system.
This natural and autonomous response is great for escaping
a saber-toothed tiger, but it is far from the mental
clarity, focus and physical relaxation that results-oriented fitness training requires.
Peak fitness training performance flows from relaxation.
When elite athletes like Michael Jordan and Wayne Gretzky
describe peak performance training and competition,
they use words like “looseness”; “fluidity”;
“effortlessness”; and “maintaining
cool”.

agree that most sport related injuries are not from

muscle tension” and could have been prevented
by proper relaxation. A loose and fluid body is the
best defense against injury.
